Dr. Jeffrey Jarvis

Dr. Jeffrey Jarvis is motivated each day by the ability to transform a person’s smile, whether it’s a young child or a self-conscious adult. His dedication to providing the highest standard of care and achieving beautiful smiles drives him to do his best. Dr. Jarvis looks forward to many years of serving the community and making a positive impact on his patients’ lives.

Dr. Jeffrey Jarvis, was born in Washington D.C. and raised in Maryland and attended DeMatha Catholic High School where he attained the honor of being selected as the first All-American lacrosse player from the school. He graduated from the University of Maryland College Park with a degree in Marine Biology before pursuing a career in dentistry at the University of Maryland Dental School. Following dental school, Dr. Jarvis served in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps and completed a residency in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry. He furthered his education by completing a three-year postgraduate residency in Orthodontics at the University of Maryland Dental School, where he earned a Certificate in Orthodontics and a Master’s in Oral Biology.

Dr. Jarvis has been board certified in Orthodontics since 2004 and most recently re-certified in 2022. Dr Jarvis has served as the President of the Maryland State Society of Orthodontists, the Carroll County Dental Society, and currently serves as a Trustee in the Maryland State Dental Association.

Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Jarvis cherishes his time with his family. He resides in Finksburg, MD, with his wife Cristina and their three children: Katia, Bella, and Andre.

Dr. Jarvis actively participates in his children’s lives by supporting their interests and coaching some of their sports teams. He currently serves as the President of the Bonds Meadow Rotary club of Westminster and enjoys serving the community of Carroll County. In 2019, Dr Jarvis was recruited by the University of Maryland Dental School to join the Dean’s Faculty where he enjoys teaching the next generation of orthodontists.

Dr. Stacey Sorkin

Dr. Stacey Sorkin finds orthodontics to be one of the most rewarding professions, as it not only improves the health of her patients but also gives them a beautiful smile. Dr. Sorkin understands the impact and importance of a good smile, as it is often the first thing people notice. She loves being a key player in her patient’s journey towards happiness and confidence.

Dr. Stacey Sorkin’s educational background has provided her with a strong foundation in dentistry and orthodontics. She attended Tulane University in New Orleans, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering in 1995. Dr. Sorkin continued her education at Boston University Dental School, where she obtained her Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 1999. Following her general practice residency at North Shore University Hospital in New York, she completed her post-graduate training in orthodontics at New York University in 2002. Dr. Sorkin recently served as president of the Carroll County Dental society.

Outside of her professional endeavors, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband, Andrew, who is also a dentist, and their two children, Caleb and Abby. She can often be found volunteering at her children’s school or cheering them on at their various sporting events. Dr. Sorkin enjoys reading, listening to podcasts, and traveling. She loves returning to her home state of Louisiana to catch up with her family and indulge in the rich culture and wonderful food and music New Orleans has to offer.

Dr. Daniel Hoffacker

Dr. Hoffacker received his Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from The University of Maryland. He graduated from The University of Maryland Dental School at the top of his class, and was awarded numerous honors for his academic excellence and outstanding leadership. He is known affectionately by most of his patients & his team as “Dr. H” or “Dr. Dan”.

Dr. Dan was born and raised in Hanover, PA and comes from a long familial line of dentists. Beginning in 1939, his grandfather, father and uncle all graduated from the University of Maryland Dental School. In his time away from the practice, Dr. H enjoys skiing, working out, watching movies and traveling. Above all, Dr. Hoffacker loves spending time with his wife, Jan and their adorable Wheaten Terrier, Daisy. Jan is a talented voice actor for what just might be one of your kid’s favorite cartoons or one of your favorite video games!

As a dedicated orthodontist, Dr. Hoffacker is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists and many other local and national dental and orthodontic associations. He is passionate about orthodontics and loves creating beautiful smiles for all of his patients. He values treating each patient as if they were a member of his family and he is incredibly driven to continuously deliver the best results possible.

Dr. Lucy Kim

Dr. Lucy Kim loves to build relationships with her patients and looks forward to seeing the positive impact that Orthodontic treatment can have on their lives. Beyond that, being a part of a team that works together to help patients gain confidence is incredibly rewarding. As the most recent doctor to join the PSJ team, she finds value in having a team of doctors to work with as we embrace new technology and practices.

Outside of the PSJ offices, Dr. Lucy Kim enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, and watching movies with friends. She recently completed her first 10-mile run and hopes to challenge a half-marathon soon as well! Beyond that, spending quality time with her family and friends is what brings her the most joy, other than her Dachshund Timbit (he’s 16!), who has a huge personality for such tiny legs!

Our “Smile Forward” Initiative

At PSJ Orthodontics, we believe in giving back to the community and making a positive impact beyond the boundaries of our practice. Through our “Smile Forward” initiative, we actively participate in school sponsorships including supporting the Dr. Robert T. Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund and sponsored the Dental Lab at Carroll Community College. We also organize mission trips to the Philippines through the “Create Healthy Smiles” group. We are dedicated to making a positive impact in our community and beyond, spreading smiles, and providing much-needed orthodontic care.

Honorary Partners

Dr. Scott was born and raised in Maryland. He received his Bachelor of Science in biology from Western Maryland College (McDaniel University) and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maryland Dental School with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. He completed a Master of Science in orthodontics from Georgetown University. In 1973, Dr. Scott founded his practice and from its inception, he strove for excellence. In 2013, after 40 years of producing “Simply Sensational Smiles”, he turned the reigns over to his partners. Following in Dr. Scott’s footsteps, they are committed to the same quality of care.

In 2017 Dr. Scott passed away, leaving behind his legacy with each patient we see and each smile we create. He may be gone, but will not be forgotten.

Dr. Kevin Lawyer was a devoted husband, father, and orthodontist. He was born and raised in Carroll County, and attended Virginia Tech and the University of Maryland Dental School. As a child he was a patient of Dr. Scott’s, worked summers with our practice while in school, and upon graduation became a partner. We were privileged to share in his life for ten years. Tragically, on February 21, 2008, Dr. Lawyer was taken from us as the result of an automobile accident.

His legacy will live on through the lives of his six beautiful children and all those he touched through his church, his friends, and our many patients. The smiles he created reflect the care and compassion he showed to all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
